Tips for Buying a Car as a Holiday Gift – Asheville, NC

A car is an amazing and thoughtful present for many different reasons. If you’re planning to give a vehicle as a holiday gift this year, use these tips to make it the perfect surprise for your loved one.

Make Sure It’s a Good Fit

It’s one thing to guess which sweater your loved one might prefer, but a car is, of course, a much bigger investment. If you’re not positive what vehicle your friend or family member wants, we recommend skipping the surprise element of this gift and instead taking the recipient to the dealership to be sure they’re getting exactly what they’re looking for. If you’re determined to keep the gift a surprise, consider framing the visit to the dealership to pick out a vehicle as the gift. It may require some patience on the recipient’s part, but it will be better in the long run.

Arrange the Surprise with the Dealer

If you know for sure which vehicle your loved one wants, you might be able to salvage the surprise element of this gift with a little planning. You’ll need the recipient of the vehicle to be present to sign papers for the title and registration, and depending on your financing plans, you may need them to sign financial paperwork as well.

If you want to deliver the car as a surprise, talk to the dealer ahead of time, as they may be able to arrange something with you that will let you present the vehicle first and then bring the recipient in to sign paperwork after.

Order in Advance

If you’re ordering a specific car rather than choosing from what’s already on the lot, you’ll want to do it well in advance. This ensures that you’ll avoid any potential delays, and can have the gift ready when you want to present it.

If you’re considering gifting a loved one a vehicle this holiday season, Asheville Chevrolet is ready to help make sure the whole thing goes off without a hitch. Give us a call, stop in, or send us an email, and we’ll do everything we can to make this a holiday season to remember for you and your loved one.
